We want to talk about YOU, and share YOUR stories in the hopes that you relate and connect to the message of wellness, and help you navigate through whatever journey you’re on. One of our members and friend Julia answered the KEFI call and shared her weight loss story. Take a minute and read about Julia, who is a WW Coach, motivator and an all around wonderful lady!
“Hi! I’m Julia from Montreal.
My weight loss story started in 2005, when I was sitting having brunch with a friend and she asked me to join WW with her. How could I possibly say no to a good friend in need? Little did I realize at the moment that she was doing this more for me than she was for herself. I am forever grateful!
A few weeks later, I pulled up to a WW studio. I sat in my car and ate a king size chocolate bar before walking in. That night, I had friends over for a wine and cheese dinner. I thought the life I knew and loved was over. I thought I would never eat those foods again. Boy, was I wrong! I still get to eat all the foods I love and the life I knew wasn’t over…but it did get a whole lot better!
I lost 60 lbs and got to my goal weight in January 2007. I kept that weight off for about 3.5 years and then gained back 22 lbs. Turns out this wasn’t a disease I was cured from, and that I wasn’t invincible! I should have kept going to workshops and getting weighed weekly. I should have kept up with the healthy habits I had created as opposed to letting the bad ones slowly creep back in. Lesson learned! I then lost that weight and have now been back at my goal since 2013.
I still get to eat the food I love. Nothing is off limits. Except now, I am mindful about it, I feel amazing, and have found a love for working out as well. It has made me a more confident, assertive and positive person. Win Win Win! Another huge advantage that I got out of this extraordinary journey is the opportunity to be a WW coach for over a decade. To watch other people transform their lives, gain confidence, change their habits and walk taller is an unbelievable experience and honor. A true gift!
Why do I put in the effort to live this healthy lifestyle? Why do I mostly fuel my body with healthy foods? Why do I spin, walk, weight train, do yoga and of course an occasional KEFI FIT class ;).
1st – Because I CAN!
2nd – Because I get to live my life without limits.
